Yep and some stuff that it's critical to get right. Carrier bearing caps must go back on the same sides in the same orientation.
Carriers shims must go back where they came from. If you have lots of preload still on those bearings (you probably don't any more but you may) then a case spreader may be needed to get it all back in. You also need about 3 or 4 feet of socket extentions to drive the seal in. Along with the right size socket to use as a press.

Plan on a weekend your first time and know where you can beg, borrow, or steal a case spreader on a Sunday.

Took the Jeep in for the airbag recall and mentioned that the axel seal is leaking and it is still under warranty. They mumbled back about checking it out. Got a text ( they can text you now instead of calling) and they said they were backed up and if they could keep it another day or should be done by noon. Got another text today and its under warranty but they have to order a special tool to get the job done. So they asked for another day and hopefully the tool will be in tomorrow. Hmmm, I thought , I canít be the first time their doing a axel seal. Kinda weird to me. Better be done tomorrow.

I've done axle seals... There are no special tools needed, unless of course they played 52 pickup with your carrier shims and now need to setup the gears again

Fingers crossed this is the "special tool" they're talking about
