Friday I bought the car that my Jeeps future motor is coming out of. It's a 2003 Jetta TDI diesel. My plan is to swap the motor in next winter but found a deal now.

A friend of mine had one in his yj. Made the front end so light he couldn’t do some climbs he used to with the old 4litre in there.

Very cool, always thought that was more common in Suzukis and toyotas. Look forward to seeing it come together

Easy fix, steering 14 bolt front, that'll make up the weight difference.

Did some research. The 1.9L TDI's weigh 350lb similar to a my 4.3L. The Jeep 4L is about 500lb

Thanks I think the hardest part to figure out will be wiring.

Ya I cut off the exhaust and made it a straight pipe out the side and yes it does sound like a tractor. But hey tractors are cool. Thanks Moose. Looking forward to working on it.

That would work, or big heavy bumper. My motor is similar weight to the tdi.

So driving to work yesterday I started hearing some noises coming from the front end. So today I looked into it. Found that my International Harvester auto/manual locking hubs decided they did not want to be auto locking any more. The spring broke causing the friction pads to explode It's a week point in the hub. They still work manually tho. On the hunt for 40 year old parts.

That totally sounds like the kind of thing international would still make parts for... Should be no problem right?

Are you still able to find the adapter plates for that 1.9 to attach to your transmission? That conversion was all the rage back in the day but couldn't seem to find them now.
