Good little welder IMO
It's what Jorge and I have used to build the redxj
Don't forget to budget around $300 for the gas bottle

I agree. I have had mine for about 5 trouble free years ... and LOTS of welding projects. Some people will suggest you get one from a welding store vs. a big box store as the ones you are looking at have some plastic vs. metal parts. That may be true but if you're a weekend welder (like me) you will be fine.

its good for hobby guys in the shop that arnt welding much more than 3/16" put a bevel on your joints and run small solid wire and I recommend C15 mig mix gas or C10 the higher argon content will greatly improve the lack of power these put out, if using it for a cage bevel every tube before welding to get full penetration

make sure you get a regulator with a rotometer not like what oxy fuel torches use you want one where the ball floats in the tube to show true flow rate if CFH and have fun building stuff!!

you won't be disappointed, the mig pak 180 is built better than the mig pak 140. sure, it's not a "power mig", but for the price, you can't go wrong.
not sure if the mp180 has a potted heat dial, but i know the power mig that you buy at linde has infinite heat setting. that would be about the only real difference.
